A record-breaking Fair

The 31st edition of dFERIA set an all-time record in terms of its key indicators: audience numbers, accredited attendees and participating companies. It also scored a highly for internationalisation, a commitment made in recent years with a focus on Europe, covering Switzerland, Germany and Austria as guest countries. We would also spotlight the high artistic level and the variety of projects, once again making dFERIA a leading event both nationally and internationally.

dFERIA ended its 31st edition on a hugely positive note. A total of 17,749 people attended the activities organised: 8,227 at the shows, with an average occupancy rate of 85%, and 7,267 at the dFERIA professional activities and events.

As for the projects selected, we would emphasise that a great many of the shows (70%) were premièred at dFERIA: four world premières, two European, two at the national level, and 16 performed for the first time in the Basque Country. As for disciplines, 41% of the programme focused on dance, another 38% theatre, while there were also four circus shows (12%), and another three featuring various disciplines (9%). The foreign companies came from Italy, Argentina, Russia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Uruguay and Colombia.

The number of accredited attendees beat all dFERIA records, a real milestone and also a challenge for the organisers, with numbers more than 16% up on 2024, and over 700 accredited professionals. Of these, some 300 were programme commissioners, 87 distribution companies, 175 producers or company representatives, 84 institutions, 17 journalists and critics, and 52 from other sectors. Particular mention should also be made of the number of international professionals at dFERIA, 114% higher than in 2024. This edition welcomed 152 accredited international visitors (there were 71 in 2024), 88 of whom were programme commissioners and representatives of international festivals. They represent more than 40 countries from every continent.
